Conductive ink and tape can be used to create custom button layouts. Template allocates space for pads that interface with pogo pins. Conductive finger rings aid response reliability.

This device fuctions by bridging gaps in circuits with the finger. As I learned more I realised it is obsoleted by approaches using capacitive touch (measuring the change in capacitance when you touch a circuit) such as:
